New disability accommodation services for Villawood
Achieve Australia is proud to once again partner with Ability SDA to deliver Supported Independent Living (SIL) services at newly built disability accommodation located in Villawood.
The brand-new accessible apartments will offer people with disability around the clock support from Achieve’s skilled team of nursing and disability staff as well as greater access to the local community.
“We are delighted to once again partner with Ability SDA to offer independent living services and supports for people with disability,”
said CEO at Achieve Australia, Jo-Anne Hewitt. “It is wonderful to see more and more opportunities becoming available for the people we support to access contemporary, accessible accommodation that is designed with inclusive communities in mind.”
For Ability SDA co-directors, Paul and Angie Simmons, the choice of service provider was an easy one. “We worked with Achieve on our first project in Guildford. They were so professional and went above and beyond to provide quality care,” said Angie. “Their team is awesome which helped make the transition to independent living a smooth one for the residents.”
The integrated development at Villawood sees 11 apartments, out of a total of 71 residential apartments, which are purpose built for people with disability and approved as Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA).
With the very latest in assistive technology and accessibility features on offer, the north and east facing apartments have a sunny outlook with expansive views. The location provides easy access to public transport, community services, supermarkets, medical services, and more.
“Some of the people who we will be supporting have been in hospital for an extended period of time due to a lack of appropriate SDA accommodation,” said Jo-Anne. “We know it can be a big adjustment moving into a new home, but we will be there every step of the way to support our clients and their families as they settle in.”
As everyone settles into their new homes, Achieve will be working closely with our clients, their families and carers, Ability SDA, and on site staff to support each individual in this exciting new chapter.
