The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) was introduced by the government in July 2013 to provide specific services for people with disability. NDIS provides eligible persons individualised, lifelong support to access and obtain required services.

Funding will be given directly to individuals with a disability, based on reasonable and necessary need, giving them crucial autonomy. Service providers are now competing for the disability dollar, giving people choice, improving outcomes and stimulating innovation.

NDIS Rollout

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is here, it’s real and it’s rolling out right now progressively across Australia.

Achieve is one of many disability services across Australia which actively campaigned for an NDIS. The promise of the NDIS is that people with a disability will have greater choice and control over their funding to pick and choose the services that will make the most difference to you and your life.

Since July 2016, the NDIS has been progressively rolling out in New South Wales and by July 2018 all eligible residents will be covered.

As part of its preparations for the roll-out of the NDIS, Achieve Australia established a business unit called MyPathway – a team and processes which provide a clear path to supports and services for people with a disability, their families and carers.

The MyPathway team supports people from their initial enquiry, then through the journey of exploring how they can work together until they become a client of Achieve Australia. It directs all enquiries to a single point and captures key data to eliminate repetition and better support the transition of families to the NDIS. A customer help desk to better support families is also under development.

Here’s how Achieve can help you:

  • Obtaining accessible, affordable housing and related health and wellbeing services
  • Assistance with daily living tasks
  • Personal care
  • Learning new tasks
  • Living independently
  • Support in community and recreational activities
  • Transport to daily activities
  • Education and training support
  • Finding and keeping a job
  • Building relationships and making new friends
  • Learning to communicate
  • Counselling and behavioural support
NDIS provides eligible persons individualised, lifelong support to access and obtain required services.
