LATEST UPDATE 26 March
Achieve Australia is taking precautionary steps as it is possible one of our staff member’s has COVID-19. Currently, the staff member is exhibiting mild symptoms, awaiting test results and is in self-isolation.
What we are doing right now
Following this news, and as a precautionary measure, our teams have informed all staff, clients and families who have been in direct contact with the staff member over the past two weeks. We have also taken immediate steps to ensure the safety of everyone in our care who may have been in contact with the staff member.
Any direct contacts are now following Department of Health Guidelines on self-isolation and we are supporting our staff, clients and families through this process.
If you have not be contacted by now, you are not impacted.
Unfortunately, given the current extent of community transmission in NSW, this news is not entirely unexpected. However, rest assured that due to our rigorous planning and preparation efforts over the past few weeks, we are well-equipped to respond in these situations.
We all have a role to play in helping to stop the spread of coronavirus in the community. At this time, we must all be extra careful about social distancing, washing our hands and staying home if we are unwell or in self-isolation.
For more information or if you have any questions on COVID-19, speak with your Achieve contact or call us on 1300 22 44 38. We will continue to provide regular updates via email and SMS to families and via our website for the community and other stakeholders.
Update to our services
We will be reducing our day program services at Araluen in Epping, Seven Hills and Casino this week and have asked that clients stay home, where possible. From 4pm Friday, 27 March services will temporarily close at these sites.
These processes have been put in place to help protect the health and safety of everyone who attends our services and in response to social distancing measures put in place by the government.
Programs occurring on site at several Achieve homes, including Norton Road and Llandilo, will continue where possible and where it is considered safe to do so.
All accommodation supports and essential daily services will continue for the people we support, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Across all homes, our staff are implementing additional hygiene and infection control measures, including mandatory sign-in declaration forms to check for any signs of illness at the start of every shift. Our teams are also highly trained and on alert for any symptoms of COVID-19.
We will continue to exercise additional caution and social distancing for all clients and staff to help minimise the spread of COVID-19.
For clients in our homes who attend day programs with providers other than Achieve, we will temporarily stop travel and attendance of these services from Friday, 27 March. This is a precautionary measure to protect the health of clients and staff and minimise the spread of the virus.
We will continue to provide Drop-in Support services. We will be in touch with clients directly to discuss any changes in services which may be impacted by the recent announcements.
