John comes from a corporate career in finance, accounting and business administration, and has extensive experience with agricultural corporations and major independent schools.

John began his working life as a teacher and then retrained in finance. John has been a Director of Achieve Australia Limited since 2009. Prior to the merger of The Crowle Foundation and Achieve Foundation, John had been a Director of Achieve Foundation. He joined its Board in 2004.

Richard Dinham

Director

Richard is an architect who has enjoyed a long career in the construction industry, including senior positions at Leighton Holdings. He was also the founding Chairman of DesignInc Ltd, an international design practice.

He has held executive positions in the Institute of Architects and represented the industry on the Built Environment Advisory Board of the CSIRO.

Jennifer Gardiner

Director

Jenny joined the Achieve Board in 2016 after serving three terms as a Member of the Legislative Council of New South Wales (1991-2015). As a Member of the NSW Parliament, Jenny chaired and served on numerous parliamentary committees and inquiries covering the gamut of government portfolios and was one of the Parliament’s presiding officers.

Robert McKimm

Director

Robert’s career has been focused on Governance, Risk and Compliance. Joining Deloitte as a graduate accountant, he moved through a specialisation in external audit before focusing on the provision of internal audit and risk consulting services to a range of government and non-government clients. Rob was admitted as a Partner in the Risk Services division of Deloitte in 2000.

Leaving the firm in 2010, he joined Origin Energy as its Head of Internal Audit.

Returning to the consulting sector in 2013, Rob joined the NSW Government owned Internal Audit Bureau as a Director (IAB). With the closure of IAB in 2015, Rob (together with two fellow IAB Directors) established a privately owned consulting practice and continues to provide services to the NSW Government sector.

Professor Patricia O’Brien

Director

Since 2009 Patricia has been the Chair in Disability Studies at University of Sydney as well as the Director of the Centre for Disability Studies. Before this role, she was the Foundation Director at the National Institute for Intellectual Disability at Trinity College, Dublin, where her work supported a mission of Inclusion through Education, Research and Advocacy.

James Douglas Reid

Director

Doug Reid is an experience business manager with extensive experience in the corporate, government, telecommunications and commercial sectors. Dr. Georgina Reynhout

Director

Dr. Georgina Reynhout is the Chief Executive Officer of Northside Montessori Society and was previously the Chief Executive Officer of St Lucy’s School and St Lucy’s Foundation.She has post-graduate training and has conducted research to PhD level in the education of individuals with needs arising from intellectual disability.

Dr. Renhout’s board and committee experience includes membership of the National Independent Special Schools Association Committee, Australian Association Special Education Committee, and the DEEWR Advisory Committee ‘Helping Children with Autism’ national project. Peter Smith

Director

Following a career in senior management at multinational insurance corporations, Peter adapted his skills to the community and charity sector. He has held many senior positions at Rotary International including President, Assistant Governor and Projects Director in the Rotary District North of Sydney. Peter is currently a Director of the Novus Foundation, which he helped establish in 2006 to raise funds for young people in need of assistance.

Jim Verco

Jim Verco has been a company director since 1980; serving on private, public and not-for-profit boards. He joined the Achieve board’s Assets and Finance Committee in 2014 after retiring from the engineering company he had served for 35 years, Cardno Limited, and was appointed to the Achieve Australia board in 2016.

He is enthusiastic about assisting people with disabilities and, in 2015, was appointed to the board of the Dominican school St Lucy’s; a school for children with special needs where he serves on the Finance committee; the Planning committee and the Building committee.

Jim is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and completed the Company Directors course in 2004 and attended an update course in 2012. He is also a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia.
